We came to Swissôtel Tbilisi as a family — with a small child and my pregnant wife — expecting comfort, calm, and the level of service that matches the hotel’s image and price. Unfortunately, our stay left us disappointed. The experience started with parking, and not in a good way. For a hotel of this level in the center of Tbilisi, the parking situation is surprisingly difficult. Yes, the staff tries to help, but in practice it is inconvenient and stressful. When we were leaving, our car was blocked by three other vehicles, and it took around 15 minutes before everything was sorted and we could finally drive out. At check-in, we made a very simple and reasonable request: a quiet room, and if possible, a room where the window could stay open. My wife is pregnant, and fresh air at night was important for us. Instead, we were given a room facing the main avenue — one of the noisiest possible options — and the window in our room would not stay open. It opened, but immediately shut back on its own. We called reception right away and explained the situation. We were politely told not to worry, that they would move us within five minutes. No one called back. After about 20 minutes, I called again and was told the same thing. In the end, we waited for nearly an hour — tired after the road, with a child, unable to rest, just sitting and waiting for a solution that never came. What happened next was even more frustrating: instead of moving us, a staff member came to the room to “fix” the window. He looked at it, said he couldn’t do anything, and left. When we asked again about changing rooms, the answer was essentially: they didn’t know anything about it. At that point, we were too exhausted to keep pushing. We had originally planned to stay longer, but after this experience, we decided not to. A noisy room, no proper ventilation, and no real follow-through from the staff — it simply wasn’t what we expected from a hotel in this category. The restaurants were another disappointment. They look beautiful and upscale, and the presentation creates high expectations. But the food did not match the appearance at all. Dinner and breakfast were both underwhelming: overly salty, not especially tasty, and far from the quality one would expect. We spent almost 400 GEL on dinner and left feeling that the price and experience were completely out of balance. To be fair, there are strong sides to this hotel. The room was spacious, the property feels new, and everything looked clean, modern, and well-maintained. Visually, it makes a very good first impression. But even here, details matter: the shower design caused water to spill out into the room, and our suitcases got wet. That, in the end, is the best way to describe this hotel: it looks impressive, but too many important details are overlooked. Swissôtel Tbilisi has the exterior and ambition of a luxury hotel, but in our experience, the service, comfort, and attention to detail did not justify the price. It feels like a beautiful concept that is still missing the level of execution guests are paying for.
