My husband and I along with our two children decided to stay with Swissotel after a number of years. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast. Unfortunately, there were a number of issues that let the hotel down. 1. We took our daughters for a swim in the pool and ordered some cocktails by the pool via the QR. After half and hour of waiting, I called the restaurant. Someone turned up after a total of 40 minutes waiting with two canned cocktails. We sent them back. She explained that she was busy downstairs. I understand that maybe they were understaffed, but if that is the case, don't offer the service if you can not come through with it. 40 minutes for two cans that just need to be opened rather than any drinks needing to be made is pathetic. 2. At midnight the alarm clock rang, waking all four of us up. Clearly, housekeeping had not checked to see if the clock was reset. You would think that this is a common practice for a hotel. 3. I could smell wood smoke for the whole night. I was concerned that there was a fire, so I went out into the hallway at 4am and there was no smell there. I am convinced that it was coming from the airconditioning unit. I did not want to wake up my husband and children so I did not call the front desk and waited until the morning to mention it. My daughter woke up with a sore scratchy throat and was clearing her throat all morning. I mentioned all of these things to the front desk upon check out, but was only offered an apology and the promise to pass it on to the manager.
